UGI EnergyLink gives back

At UGI EnergyLink, we believe it’s important to give back to the communities in which we live and work. Throughout the month of June, we’re excited to support several initiatives for the United Way of Berks County, a local chapter of the global nonprofit that helps people in need, addresses our county’s most critical issues, and makes our community a better place for everyone.

We’re participating in the United Way’s The Big Cheese event, the largest United Way-driven meal-packaging event in the country. In 2016 alone, more than 1,000 volunteers packaged 500,000 nutrient-fortified mac and cheese meals for local families in need. Meals were distributed by the Greater Berks Food Bank to local school children through the Weekender Backpack program and at food pantries in Berks County.

This year’s event will take place on June 15 from 6-9 p.m. and June 16 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at Penn State Berks. Volunteers from our team are looking forward to packaging mac and cheese meals, plus rice and beans, to help fight hunger in Berks County.

On June 18 at the Berkshire Country Club, UGI Energy Services and UGI HVAC Enterprises are joining forces to host our Fourth Annual Charity Golf Outing that also supports the United Way of Berks County. Last year, our golf event raised $87,000 with more than 100 attendees and 28 vendors. Over the past three years with help from generous donors and friends like you, we’ve raised more than $200,000 for United Way!

This year our goal is to raise at least $75,000, 100 percent of which goes directly to United Ways’ education, health, social services, and other programs in our community. It’s always a good time, with lots of laughs, some friendly competition, and folks working together toward a great cause. We hope to see you there!
